Character
Name: Keith Valentine
Source: Shadow Hearts
Age: At least 200
Species: Vampire
Requested Department Assignment: Administration/Field Agent
Personality:
Normally, Keith is a fairly easy-going gentleman. He seldom gets angry, but when he does, it's more of a cold, controlled anger. He will eliminate the issue with as much expediency as possible, then be done with it. One of the surest ways to make him angry is to threaten anything he sees it as his duty to protect, or to threaten or harm a child and let him find out about it.
He is very fond of children, and will play with them every chance he gets. Normally, he comes across as a serious, quiet man with a subtle sense of humor, but he has been known to hold hands with a small child and go skipping through the forest just for the sheer joy of doing so.
He's a loyal, dependable sort of friend with a chilvarous streak that sometimes seems odd in the current day and age. If he agrees to help someone, he will see it through to the end.
He also has a slightly adventerous streak: he can become bored and listless without any stimulation, but he doesn't actively seek it out on his own. He doesn't have any problems joining anyone else, though.
Due to his upbringing, the isolation of Bistritz, and the fact that the modern age has come upon him rather suddenly, Keith is uncomfortable using much technology, though he is substantially more familiar with it now than he was perhaps ten years ago. (He knows what a personal computer is, but is mystified by cell phones, and frankly finds the internet a scary concept.)
(He's also quite thoroughly gay, but it seldom comes up. He's aware that it makes some people uncomfortable, and it would be improper to make advances.)
History, including how they encountered the Aegis Foundation:
The Valentine family of Blue Castle have been the hereditary lords of the town of Bistritz for generations, and Keith is the master of the castle. He doesn't often speak of his early life, saying that it was so long ago that no one currently living could possibly care. Besides, from his point of view, there wasn't much of interest early on. In fact, he became so bored that he went to sleep for two hundred years.
It was quite a rude awakening when a demon decided to roost in his tower. The sheer power of the demon was enough to wake him. He tried to get rid of it, but it was too strong for him to deal with on his own. The best he could do was sealing the tower to keep it contained. Once that was done, he explored the area, to see what had changed. He was distressed to find the area overrun with all sorts of unpleasant things, and he eliminated what he could.
It was 1947. While Bistritz was so tiny that the wars had largely overlooked it, reconstruction efforts meant there was a larger than normal amount of activity in the general region. Inevitably, someone had noticed something was amiss, and the Aegis Foundation became aware of the situation. A team arrived in the village shortly after Keith's awakening in order to investigate the cause of the monster infestation and eliminate it if possible.
Keith was quite surprised to have visitors, and chagrined to realize that the people of Bistritz thought the monsters had come because of him. He explained that he would never dream of doing anything to harm the people of Bistritz, and fortunately, he was believed.
Because he had an interest in protecting Bistritz, he joined the agents in investigating the matter. The demon in the tower, and the local incursion of monsters were both symptoms of the same problem; the mayor of the town had been meddling with things he ought not to meddle with as part of his attempts to find the (nonexistant) treasure of Blue Castle. Keith was already angry, but when the mayor foolishly kidnapped the mother of a young local girl Keith had befriended in attempt to use her as a bargaining chip... Well, Keith simply could not have that. The mayor was quickly eliminated, and shortly after, the local monsters were cleared out and the demon in the tower banished back to wherever it had come from.
Keith was intrigued by the idea of the Foundation and had enjoyed all the excitement. Though he was unable to leave Bistritz for a few years due to his responsibilities and making sure his people were disadvantaged by the aftermath of the wars, he officially joined the Aegis Foundation in 1950. He moved to Wales, though he left means for certain of the villagers to contact him should Bistritz have need of him. He would make trips home periodically, though the increasing power of the Soviet Union made Keith nervous, and he soon abandoned the practice. He was kept apprised of the situation in Bistritz through letters from his friends, but didn't dare attract notice to the region by making what could be considered suspicious trips.
He would be unable to return to his home until the fall of the Soviet Union, but Bistritz's isolation served it as it had done during the World Wars, and the village was overlooked by the Soviets. When the collapse came, Keith returned to Bistritz for two years to help stabilize the region. However, once he was satisfied that all was well, he returned to Cardiff and the Foundation, and resumed his practice of making trips every year or two.
Due to his many years of service and his unswerving dedication to the protection of the world, Keith was ultimately promoted to his current position as the de facto head of field operations.
Despite the fact that he is currently still classified as a field agent, he spends most of his time managing things at headquarters. If necessary, he will join a field team, but generally thinks that due to his experience, he is of more use coordinating things.
Any Special Abilities and Notable Skills:
Keith is a vampire, of the Valentine family who are all vampires naturally, as in they're born that way. He is an excellent sword fighter; that is his primary mode of attack. He's also stronger and faster than most humans. He has excellent night vision, as one would expect. His particular bloodline does not have a vulnerability to sunlight, though he does not enjoy it and can sunburn easily. Usually, he ends up sleeping most of the day unless something important is going on.
He is also capable of performing his family rituals to help him in combat; he knows a vampiric healing spell and can summon a swarm of bats or minor demon or two that serve his family to attack.
He also speaks English, French, German, and Russian fluently.

Keith cautiously made his way through the decrepit house. This was one of those places that had a bad reputation, and one did not have to be a medium to feel that it was deserved. This place felt dangerous, and neglect had made it even moreso, even if one discounted possible hauntings. In fact, this place was considered so dangerous that he had thought it necessary to come along, instead of staying back at headquarters.
He signaled to the others to wait for a moment, and pushed open a door that had caught his attention. When he did, he instinctively showed his fangs and reached for his sword; it was here. "Show yourself," he said sternly. He didn't know which upset him more, the malevolent entity that all too clearly occupied this room, or the fact that this had once been a child's nursery, judging by the shredded and bloodstained toys...
